The vision of the Blue Line materialized as early as 1993, during the hardship of war taking place on the Croatian territory, when a passenger ship «Kraljica mira» dared to sail towards Italy transporting humanitarian aid and refugees.
«Kraljica mira» was sailing at that time under the flag of SEM Maritime Company (SMC), and in 1997 the passenger ship «Split 1700» joined the same company.
SMC existed on the Croatian – Italian market up to 2003, when the maritime company Blue Line Int succeeded its maritime traditon, setting new standards in the naval transportation.
The passenger ship «Ancona», the largest ship in the Adriatic Sea was bought in 2003 and has been sailing together with the passenger ship «Split 1700» for over several years on a regular “blue line” Split-Ancona-Split, maintaining also the seasonal lines Ancona-Hvar- Ancona and Ancona- Vis- Ancona.
